RCA Appliance Age or Manufacture Date: The manufacturing date and year is coded into the serial number (not the model number) of the appliance. Our serial numbers begin with two letters. The first letter identifies the month and the second letter identifies the year. The corresponding letters, months, and years are below. The serial number is usually the key to determining the manufacturing date (aka 'age') of most major home appliances. You can use our age finder service to try to find out how old your appliance may be. Brands covered include Absocold Admiral Alliance Laundry Amana Americana Anaheim Mfg ASKO Avanti Badger Baycrest Beaty Beaumark Blomberg Bone Crusher Bosch Broan Caloric Camco Coldspot. In response to numerous queries, I hereby bring forth information on the significance behind the Byzantine master serial number codes used by RCA Victor, its sublabels and custom clients beginning in 1942 and continuing through the 1980's and possibly into the early '90's.

You will need to find your serial/model tag and record the numbers and letters on this, then looking at the first four numbers you should be able to work out the manufacture date. The format is yyww For example:
If the first four numbers were 9912, this translates as the 12th week of 99 (March 1999)
If it is a newer model and starts with two letters instead of numbers it may follow the Maytag serial format.
